Joanna Oliver is a multi-faceted artist living in Caledon, Ontario, Canada. Her art is strong with surface detail and texture, and she enjoys exploring different materials and different directions, pushing the boundaries as far as they can go.
She takes inspiration from the artisinal legacy of her grandparents who were also versatile makers of things and worked with metal, wood, leather and fibre. Her work is intensely visual and tactile, emotionally and sensually connected, and often uses semi-translucent layers and multi-media. Joanna prefers to keep things “fresh” creatively and doesn’t limit herself to any one medium, style or subject matter. In following her work, you will see what “multifaceted” can mean!
Joanna was traditionally trained in Fine Art and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Prior to that, she graduated from the Etobicoke School of the Arts and has had a lifelong passion for drawing, painting and just making things in general. She is always creating and hopes to use this website to blog about it. She’s not used to talking about herself (especially in the third person), but hopes to expand that horizon more with this website as a tool. Thanks for reading, and don’t hesitate to contact Joanna at joanna@joannaoliverart.com or on any of her social media platforms!
